Opal the Cat, R.I.P.

On Saturday, 02/02/08, Opal, th Siamese from Hell entered the Summer Country. She died from a deterioration of her physical systems , not her mental ones. (Try being 140 years plus and keeping things going.)

She will be missed greatly  (saved my ass many times.)

Her Obit:

Opal, “the Cat”… Siamese Queen

1987 to  February 2, 2008

Born in Indiana as a Breeder, escaped to New Orleans and then made the round trip to SoCal and back as a member of the Exiles of the 2005 Flood of her home.

She will be greatly missed, especially that “AACCKKK!” voice of hers. Loved her belly rubs and petting… purred like a fool all the way to the end.

We both love her dearly. You’ll be missed sweetie. The other Katz here miss you too. (They can’t play with your tail now.)

“See you in the Summer Country, Miss Opal”

Right now I’m beside myself. Opal was my friend and my Familiar for years. Now I have ten Familiars to take her place, and she still presides as the Leader of the Host.

Beyond this I’m not allowed to speak.

  1. I’m so sorry about the passing of your familiar. May she be frolicking and Aaaaacking away in the Summer Country.

  2. Dear sweet GG…..even though I’ve been in your shoes I, nor anyone, can know the depth of your loss. Our relationships with our furry babies are as personal, individual and deep as any parent and child’s. We are all, human and animal, a part of the Goddess’s spirit. May she sit in the lap of the Goddess until you meet again.
My best to Bets and the Katz too.
    ((hugs))

  3. Thanks Darlin’s. The last week was a torture to us as I felt we were running a hospice (done it before for people).

Opal passed in her sleep… no pain. She was purring up a storm a half hour before the end, and as I laid next to her, the end came. All of the Gang were so nice to her. Now we are helping them get through this transition.

Betts and I held a Wake for her last night: Bywater BBQ, then the Starlight, and then at home. We did her proud.

Now Betts is worried that one day we will open our door and there will be a Siamese kitten, one that will say “AAACCCKKK!!!”, and then fall on on her back demanding a belly rub. If that happens, may the Goddess help us: “She’s back!”.

  4. Morwen, many blessings for peace and healing to y’all. I know the Goddess is getting a kick out of her. Do you ever look at TRex’s blog? There was a youtube clip of a Siamese named Alaska yesterday and how she did NOT want to come indoors and told her human momma just that…mmrrrrraaaahhh! It was really sweet and silly! Not angry, just ‘I don’t think so…!’
My heart goes out to y’all,
    Elspeth

  5. I’m so sorry to hear about Opal. I know from experience how hard it is to lose your beloved pet, and I wish you peace and solace.
