We are currently seeking donations from local businesses to raffle and auction at this event. Specifically clothing and accessories for our Nude is Nice fund-raiser striptease performed by the girls of Fleur de Tease. Hats, shirts, scarfs, shoes, earrings, bracelets. Each will the auctioned off one by one to raise money, awareness and blood pressure. Works of Art are also being excepted for auction.
Proceeds from the raffle and the auction will be donated by the Morris family to the Ashley Morris Memorial Foundation which will be used to present FYYFF Awards at later dates.

Remembering Ashley Morris…
Here’s a link to another memorial to Ashley Morris (who left us way too damn early). The article also includes the memorial from the Big Easy Rollergirls, of whom his wife Hana, aka Soviet Block, is a member.
Though those of us in the NOLA Blogosphere have calmed down a little about learning of Ashley’s death a week ago, there is much activity occurring setting up fundraisers and working on details for his funeral this Friday.

Our friend Ashley will be laid to rest on Friday, April 11th.
Details:
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services from Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 1 pm. Visitation will be from 10 am until 1 pm. Internment to follow in St. Louis Cemetery #3.
Funeral or Saints attire requested.
Please feel free to donate to the Ashely Morris Fund in order to help his wife and three little ones weather this sad period in their lives.

Nagin Wants to Cold Cock the NOLA Bloggers (and everybody else with a brain)
“No-See-Um” Nagin, our transparent, or is that the invisible, Mayor took umbrage over the flap concerning his little play-time fun with “Do Nothing” Riley, our Chief of Police. He’s also bitchin’ because the media is against him and his sparkling record here in NOLA, causing Racists to come out of the woodwork and make him live in fear for himself and his family. He also talks about the “evil” Blogs, and how if he is approached wrongly he will cold cock the person(s) responsible.
Try to cold cock me you worthless piece of political trash, and I’ll sink my knee so deep in your genitals that you will sound like Minny Mouse for the rest of your life. That or I’ll stick a 7 inch pump somewhere (but you might like that, Bitch.). You always find a way to make yourself look so freakin’ silly, and by extension you soil the images of the folks here who are ACTUALLY doing the rebuilding. You are NOT an asset to New Orleans.

“Nagin: I don’t know. I’ll probably settle down and get to the business of the recovery. I’ll probably go talk to an attorney and the FBI about hate crimes and all that good stuff, but I’ll be back to business.

So I guess that “No-See-Um” Ray doesn’t believe in Free Speech, the telling of the Truth or Civil Disobedience. It’s just sad… he should return to the world of cable TV and spare the rest of us anymore of his insanity.

Blogroll Amnesty Day (B.A.D.)
As a Blogger who is pretty much on the bottom of the food chain, I didn’t participate in the last two B.A.D.s. I mean Hell, all I do is mainly cover New Orleans and the Coast, write about daily life, my community, and once in a while delve into the National B/S.

Today however, The Democratic Daily issued their post on B.A.D., and to my surprise and delight, two of the NOLA Bloggers were listed: Oyster and moi. *Blushes*Â I guess that the thousands of hours I’ve spent since the Flood reading almost everything… thinking my way through all of the crap that goes down in this World… and the screaming of my soul against injustice actually is making a difference. (and no, I’m not going to go “Sally Fields” here.)
So in order to work with the concept of this day, this week I’ll be adding a new section to my Blogroll: Good Voices. These are Blogs which aren’t about New Orleans, but about day-to-day lives and thoughts of other folks making their way through Life and the B/S of the ruling 2%. I’m stepping up my campaign to help birth a more Progressive world.
