No New Year’s Eve Bonfire in Mid-City?

Filed under: Nagin's Minions,New Orleans,New Orleans Cultures and Traditions,Ray Nagin — Morwen Madrigal @ 8:53 am

A 70 year old tradition is in peril from the Modernist mooks. Read the latest attack on New Orleans’ Culture here

My response- Well I do not support suppression of the Cultural expressions of the folks of New Orleans.

Let’s get this game on and have the Bonfire (I’ll even end my “Stay @ Home, eat Ruebans and drink Margaritas” to save this event)

I’m tired of the City trying to control our lives and gentrify our town. All of us who returned did so for a reason- this is our home and these are our ways. Time to drive that point home once and for all.

Namaste!

I Am Not Dying, Just Exhausted

Filed under: Gentilly,Nagin's Minions,New Orleans,NOLA Politics,Sinn Fein — Morwen Madrigal @ 10:24 pm

3.5 hours at the V.A. today with my Doc and many others. My low weight is fine, but I need more carbs. Need bloodwork for the HIV, but I look very well.  Yes I need some meds to help sleep and work on my anxiety over New Orleans’ fate. These things can be fixed.

My bleeding prob will be fixed next month. The Ovarian/Uterine worries will be resolved by tests. The sinus/tinnitus probs are to be resolved. Everything is within allowable parameters.

It’s about stress and not having seen a doc for years. Doc said I was worried about too many things, especially about my health condition, our house and the City.  There’s a ton of bloodwork ahead, but this guy is great with HIV stuffs.  He knows my history, and the fact that I violate all of the thoughts on the course of this disease. The rationale is that I have worn myself out whilst trying to fight many issues. (Of course y’all knew that I would go to that point.)

I will not stop on these issues. Now I can calm down on what all of this work is doing to my body. And this verifies that the Third Battle for New Orleans keeps me alive. One must have a reason to exist, and I freakin’ have one- the Soul of New Orleans. Even if I must leave this plane, New Orleans and Her folks must be restored.

Considering the B/S of Mayor Nagin and his business friends, I just might live forever. Works for me Darlin’s.

After my inquisition I headed to Krystal for some Murder Burgers and continued to the Starlight. I chomped away whist talking to friends about what is going down in the community. Had a few cocktails too. Realized that the angst/anxieity/depression of being a rebuilder in the City can make for some strange feelings.  I’m tired, but Doc Oct saved my life today.  What I’m feeling is the fight, not my mortality.

I ain’t going anywhere but New Orleans.

Geek Dinner at our house next month, and I will be able to celebrate all that we NOLA Bloggers have worked for. There is no reason to back down now. The Goddess protects those who PROTECT.  And… It’s time for planning Rising Tide IV. This year nothing will stop me from from being a more active member than last year.

I am NOT going away anytime soon.  The Bitch from Gentilly shall abide, and she will fight like all Hell.

E Strikes!

Eli from “We Could Be Famous” delivers his petition to unseat Mayor Nagin’s buddy from the Department of Sanitation.

Here’s some background.

It’s time to take out the trash. And get rid of the fuckmooks.

Nagin’s Hissy-fit

Filed under: Fuckmooks,Nagin's Minions,New Orleans,NOLA Politics,Politicians,Ray Nagin — Morwen Madrigal @ 1:10 am

So our esteemed Mayor doesn’t like the City Council’s budget. Fuck him.

No increase in the number of police here in the murder capital of the U.S., and no fixing of street lights or street signs? Screw that fuckmook to the wall kids.

Here’s some more of the mook’s thoughts (?)-

A press release issued by Nagin’s administration said that the personnel freeze would prevent the NOPD from reaching its goal of 1,700 officers, instead keeping their numbers at about 1,575.

The release added that the city would not fill open positions in the fire department or the 24 open positions in the Office of Safety and Permits that Nagin said would have an adverse effect on the City’s efforts to reduce the amount of time residents must wait for building and electrical permits. Here’s more.

This mother-fucking piece of shit must FUCKING GO! He can’t get his $75M for a new Charity Hospital and he takes a temper tantrum and takes it out on the citizens of New Orleans.

The V.A. can take over the the Lindy Boggs site, and LSU can rebuild Charity Hospital. Why destroy a neighborhood for Nagin’s/Blakeley’s wet dreams?

Here’s some more of the Mayor’s cuts-

Nagin also vetoed the following items the city council designated to agencies outside of the city of New Orleans:

$1.7 million to the Indigent Defender Board. Nagin said he would propose at the next council meeting to add a $5 fee to each red light ticket to give to the Indigent Defender Board

$373,000 to the Recovery School District for after school programs

$600,000 to the DA’s office

$100,000 to NORD

$97,000 to Juvenile Court for Law Clerk salaries

$25,000 for Crimestoppers

$100,000 to LSU Cooperative Extension Service

$43,750 for Reserve Contingency

It is far past time for us, the citizens of New Orleans to rid ourselves of the fuckmook Nagin. He is just acting out like a spoiled kid that doesn’t get his way and is now acting out via a tantrum. As far as I’m concerned, he can hold his breath for the next two years or until we can recall his lame ass.

NOPD’s Riley Tells Us To Not Drink the Water

A few days back I set up a petition to get our worthless Mayor, one C. Ray Nagin, to fire the mindless oaf he put in place to be the Superintendent of the NOPD due to missing monies and evidence from NOPD’s storage places. It was also about NOPD’s dismall performance when it comes to stopping crime in our little city.

Today’s Editorial in the Times-Picayune is entitled “Don’t Drink the Water” in relation to NOPD’s Riley conjectoring that maybe the river water is to blame for t5he crime stats.

Warren Riley is a major fuckmook moron, and he MUST BE REMOVED as the head of the NOPD.

Petition To Remove Warren Riley NOW!

Eli inspired me, so here it goes-

A petition to remove Warren Riley now from the NOPD.

We are the NOLA Bloggers. We fight for our city, and it’s time to throw some weight around. The future of New Orleans depends on this.

The Petition To Remove the Trash Queen From Her Trash Heap

Filed under: Nagin's Minions,New Orleans,NOLA Politics,Veronica White — Morwen Madrigal @ 2:44 am

The petition still moves forward in an attempt to have Mayor Nagin remove his over-educated, incompetent and incoherent Head of our Department of Sanitation for her complete inability to tell the truth about her department and her total disdain for any who question her.

Sign the petition please.

Here’s the background on much of this garbage.

Gentle Readers, you have seen stuff here referring to the possible scandal in the garbage contracts here.

Now it’s time to catch the snake at the heart of it all-

DismissVeronicaWhite

Just sign it. It’s time to “clean up” New Orleans.

Methinks They Doth Protest Too Much

More fun and games down at City Hall and our idiot Mayor’s administration. The other day the City Council held a budget hearing concerning the Sanitation contracts and the huge cost it is to the taxpayers. Council woman Stacey Head got into with Sanitation Director Veronica White over White’s lies to the Council.

Today Mayor “No-See-Um” Ray Nagin sent an email to the Council. He berated them for mistreatment,  Racial verbal assaults and profanities. The tape recordings show no such things. Nagin admitted later that he hadn’t listened to to the recording.

What a fucking utter moron.

Nagin’s minions are unqualified for their positions. That’s one reason they cannot, or will not, answer questions about the the details of their departments. The other reason may well be the interesting contracts and questionable dealings of the Administration and certain contractors. Just read the stuffs the American Zombie has been posting for years. (I refuse to list all the links to the posts because there are just way too many of them.)

If someone is the head of a Department, they had well better know what is happening on their watch. Their inflated paychecks come out of our wallets and purses. I’ve run major businesses and if I responded to the company as these mooks do to our elected Council, I’d be out looking for another job or facing an indictment.

We who live and are rebuilding our damaged city cannot wait until 2010 to see the departure of our bald, demented, punch-drunk fool of a Mayor and the trash he has brought into City Hall. All of them must go.

UPDATE- Eli over at We Could Be Famous has his take on this.

Mayor Nagin Suspends the NCDC

Here is my letter to the City Council concerning Mayor ( Corporate Capitalist) Nagin’s suspension of the demolition oversight of the Neighborhood Conservation District Committee-

As a co-founder of the Gentilly Civic Improvement Association and the Rising Tide, I am alarmed by Mayor Nagin’s suspension of the NCDC’s oversight over demolitions of homes/buildings.

Yes, there are many places that should be demolished due to unsafe conditions, but many can be saved as their owners are trying to put together the funds with which to finance the repairs. It would be a crying shame if perfectly good homes and buildings are destroyed just because the Mayor has made a “decision”.

You are OUR City Council. You are OUR representatives. You are OUR City’s protection against outrages such as that fomented by Mayor Nagin and his developer friends. As a city, it would be a major loss to have gaping holes within neighborhoods, especially when there seems to be no upkeep on the vacant lots.

New Orleans has a flavor, one that is totally unique in this country. The feel that a person has whilst walking the streets looking at a continuity of History is one of connection and pride of place. It shows how much we love our little place within the suburban sprawl that contaminates most of our country. It’s what makes New Orleans, “New Orleans”.

Please, please don’t let Mayor Nagin begin a wholesale demolition of the city without some form of oversight. My partner and I have invested heavily in rebuilding our home, but some of our neighbors are still struggling to get to where we are right now. They deserve the chance to pull it together, but Mayor Nagin’s decree concerning the suspension of the NCDC takes that chance away.

Mayor Nagin has chosen the wrong path to the restoration of New Orleans. It is up to all of you to keep this City on the right path as we rebuild our wonderful home. Otherwise, we the people of New Orleans may just have to take matters into our own hands to stop this outrageous infingement of our independent rights as homeowners.

Sincerely,

Miss Morwen niAnne Madrigal,
