Check out the facts. Several years ago McCain cosponsored legislation, supported by Bush, to rein in Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac and provide more oversight of what has created much of this debacle and the legislation was blocked by Chris Dodd and Barney Frank, with votes against along almost straight party lines.
The bad loans that underlie most of the problem were made because banks and other lenders were forced to prove that they weren’t discriminating against minorities, and the easies way to do that was to loan money to people who didn’t have the means to pay it back, or who were suckered into the housing bubble, buying beyond their means in the hope that the value of their home would appreciate so much that their unearned equity would put them into the plus column.
Don’t believe everything those bozos at MoveOn tell you.
