Our House- March 25th, ’08

Moving-in day is coming finally. Walls are painted, trim is going in, cabinets and countertops mounted next week. Here’s some current pics- 03/025/08.
Gas goes in Thursday and electric next week. Back staircase will take some time, so we won’t use the back door.

I’m hoping we can move in by the weekend of April 12th. The outside siding will be mounted after we are back in the house, and the front staircase should finally have handrails too. The driveways are a mystery, but they’re just gravel.

We do need to get some curtains just in case the workers are around and I’ve decided it’s a bra and panty day for doing things around the house. *giggles* Wouldn’t do to distract them whilst working, ‘eh?

  2. Thanx Sophmom. This is what happens when it takes almost 31 months to fix a house.

Must pull the trigger on the bulk of the appliances and get some more light fixtures for the lower level and the perimeter lamps.

Furniture? We have a bed, sofa and chair and two small tables in the hovel and a nice dining set at the big house. Guess we’ll be doing shopping after moving back.

Spocko! Good to hear from you (yes, I know that street runs both ways). It has been lots of work, but the money we borrowed. *sobs*

When you get down here, let’s meet up and yes, I’ll do dinner.

  6. Nice seeing it all come together. Enjoy that new house smell and may you have many many great years there.

I’m gussing you somewhere between Robert E. Lee & Filmore?

  7. Our house is in the “Lost Neighborhood”, the riverside portion of Sugar Hill between i-610 and the railroad corridor.

Thanks for the good wishes D-BB

  8. Beautiful pictures! I love the open rooms filled with light — wonderful! You’ll have to give us a ring to fill your game room with pinball machines and video games (we used to restore games — Paul worked for Williams pinball once upon a time).

  9. CS,

This is what happens when it takes 2 1/2 years to come to completion on a project. *rolls eyes*

The Game room is going to be the “New Orleans Room” once it’s christened. (Wanted Ashley to do that, but never got to ask him directly.) My present for making it through this poop is an 8′ regulation pool table… Betts’ is a 9.2 A/V system with it’s own ‘puter for storing music and stuff.

Over the years it will live up to it’s name with poster and pics, beads and whatnot.

There will be Geek Dinners at the house and smaller get-togethers with folk. I’ll let you know when we finally get enough furniture to make it comfy.

BTW- before we bought the place, the owners held a wedding there and the place handled 150 guests. I’m thinking that with the new decks and the doubling of the courtyard area, we can do 250 folks. (I will hire clean-up crews. LOL)
